The brief presented many challenges.
The architect along with the client specified a natural stone that would not only blend in with the palate of the existing sandstone bluff, but also be able to withstand the extreme conditions of its coastal environment.
The seawall was of particular concern for the client.
The question was raised, What stone would be the best considering its location to protect the property from storms and rising tides ? The Wall had to be extremely structurally sound. With those concerns our company suggested using a South Australian Basalt, not only for its beautiful colouring, but also due to it’s being an extremely hard stone resistant to acids, salt from the water & air along with it being naturally algae resistant.
The end result was a beautiful stone house that not only fulfilled the clients expectations, but also has blended beautifully with its natural surroundings.
